World Energy Council India (WEC India)

WEC India (formerly known as World Energy Council-Indian Member Committee) is country member of World Energy Council (WEC), a global and inclusive body (estd. 1923) for thought leadership and tangible engagement in the pursuit of sustainable supply and use of energy. WEC Activities cover the entire energy spectrum from conventional to renewable. WEC India is one of the earliest country members of World Energy Council.

Dialogue Platforms and Communities

India Energy Congress

India Energy Congress(IEC), the flagship event of World Energy Council India (WEC India) is a unique and prestigious apex level energy dialogue platform. It was declared a Joint Event of Ministries of Power, Coal, New & Renewable Energy, Petroleum & Natural Gas, External Affairs and Department of Atomic Energy w.e.f. 6th edition held in 2015. IEC is a unique platform for national and international decision makers, experts across the energy industry to exchange views and share knowledge, expertise and experience.

World Energy Congress

This flagship event of the World Energy Council covers all aspects of the energy agenda. Running since 1924, the triennial World Energy Congress enables dialogue among Ministers, CEOs and industry experts on critical developments in the energy sector.
As the world’s premier energy gathering, the Congress offers a unique opportunity for participants to better understand energy issues and solutions from a global perspective.

India-Future Energy Leaders’ Program

India Future Energy Leaders’ Program (I-FELP) is a platform by World Energy Council India (WEC India) for young energy professionals which aims at facilitating a comprehensive understanding of the energy transition and balanced perspective of the fast paced changes happening in the energy sector. At present, I-FELP has over 60 young professionals and 5 mentors with representation from NTPC, NHPC, POWERGRID, REC, PTC, BHEL, ONGC, HPCL and EESL.

Knowledge Networks (KNs)

WEC India has adopted the model of ‘Knowledge Networks’ (KNs) to leverage the expertise available across the sector. The KNs facilitate experts to come together across organizational and disciplinary boundaries to collaborate productively. The work of the KNs would lead to studies,

Dialogue

“WEC India Energy Dialogues”, is a series of short duration focused discussions on critical energy issues. These follow a format of discussions; stakeholders’ meet or workshops. Some of the important dialogues held under this banner include; Stakeholders’ meet on; ‘Energy Storage’, ‘Natural Gas Based Combined Heat and Power & Combined Heat Power and Cooling’(CCHP), Solarisation of Agriculture Pumps’; workshops on ‘Clean Coal technologies’, ‘Performance of Generating Plants (PGP)’, ‘Renewable Energy System Integration(RESI)’, ‘Energy Efficiency Policies & Indicators’, ‘Capacity building workshop for bankers for financing energy efficiency projects’. WEC India facilitates community level deliberations on energy issues.

WEC India nominates experts in the global study groups of WEC, who have an opportunity to not only contribute but also rally India’s point of view on certain critical issues such as climate change. These experts help shaping the agenda of the studies as well as critically review the final reports.
