Glimpses of India Pavilion at 24th World Energy Congress
India Pavilion under the theme “Energising Sustainable and Prosperous Future” was jointly inaugurated by the Indian Ambassador to UAE – H.E Shri Navdeep Singh Suri; Hon’ble Secretary (Power)/Chairman WEC India, Shri Subhash Chandra Garg and CMD, NTPC/Secretary General WEC India, Shri Gurdeep Singh. The stalls put up by NTPC, POWERGRID, NHPC, EESL, REC, SECI, CIL and PFC showcasing Indian energy sector, generated good interest and footfall during the four days of the Congress. Participation of ‘Invest India’ in the Congress for the first time has been an important strategic element in the India participation. Also, Tea Board and Coffee Board participated in the Congress for the first time. A Strategy Paper by WEC India and member organizations titled “Shaping New Energy Dimensions-Energising Sustainable and Prosperous Future” featuring Indian energy sector and investment opportunities was also released.
The Indian delegation was led by Shri Subhash Chandra Garg, Hon’ble Secretary, Ministry of Power/Chairman, WEC India. Shri Gurdeep Singh, CMD, NTPC/Secretary General (WEC India); Shri Vivek Kumar Dewangan, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Power and Shri Seethapathy Chander, Advisor (WEC India) participated in the Congress and concurrent events along with Secretary (Power). A total of around 60 participants in the category of speakers, delegates, Future Energy Leaders and exhibitors; from across the sector constituted the Indian delegation.
