World Energy Council India (WEC India)

WEC India (formerly known as World Energy Council-Indian Member Committee) is country member of World Energy Council (WEC), a global and inclusive body (estd. 1923) for thought leadership and tangible engagement in the pursuit of sustainable supply and use of energy. WEC India Activities cover the entire energy spectrum from conventional to renewable. WEC India is one of the earliest country members of World Energy Council.

Dialogue Platforms

World Energy Congress

The World Energy Congress is the biennial (earlier triennial) flagship event of World Energy Council. The World Energy Congress is an opportunity for stakeholders to better understand complex and highly interwoven energy issues and solutions from a global perspective. The World Energy Congress provides a platform for Ministers, Secretaries, and CEOs from the country for deliberations and engagement with global peers. The mega exhibition held during the Congress is an excellent opportunity to showcase the country’s energy sector. Considering the global nature of energy issues and dynamics involved, the Indian energy sector has been significantly utilizing these platforms.

India Energy Congress

India Energy Congress(IEC), the flagship event of World Energy Council India (WEC India) is a unique and prestigious apex level energy dialogue platform. It was declared a Joint Event of Ministries of Power, Coal, New & Renewable Energy, Petroleum & Natural Gas, External Affairs and Department of Atomic Energy w.e.f. 6th edition held in 2015. IEC is a unique platform for national and international decision makers, experts across the energy industry to exchange views and share knowledge, expertise and experience.

WEC India Heads of Corporate Planners Forum (HoCP)

WEC India’s Heads of Corporate Planners’ Forum (HoCP)- platform for strategy heads of organizations hold discussions on areas of common
interest, policy issues, long term energy scenario and also exchange information on best practices. 

India-Future Energy Leaders’ Program

India Future Energy Leaders’ Program (I-FELP) is a platform by World Energy Council India (WEC India) for young energy professionals which aims at facilitating a comprehensive understanding of the energy transition and balanced perspective of the fast paced changes happening in the energy sector. At present, I-FELP has around 80 young professionals and 5 mentors with representation from NTPC, NHPC, POWERGRID, REC, PTC, BHEL, ONGC, HPCL and EESL.

Workshops & Dialogues

“WEC India Energy Dialogues” are short duration focused discussions on energy issues with the objective of catalysing clean energy transition in the Indian energy sector. These follow a variety of formats such as discussions, stakeholders’ meet and workshops. Through the “energy dialogues”, WEC India brings to its stakeholders high level perspectives and analysis by international and Indian experts on energy topics relevant for clean energy transition.

WEC India Studies

WEC India conducts studies on areas of concern for the member organizations and impactful for the sector through inhouse efforts and in partnership with leading consultants.

International Outreach

WEC India provides international outreach through WEC global program such as World  Energy Congress,  World  Energy  Week, World Energy Leaders’ Summit, participation in WEC Studies, Future Energy Leaders’ Program and representation in WEC governance committees.
