Heads of Corporate Planning Forum Meet on 23rd August 2024 at IHC, New Delhi
World Energy Council India (WEC India) organized the Heads of Corporate Planning (HoCP) Forum meeting on August 23, 2024, at the India Habitat Center, New Delhi. The event was centered around discussions on “Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the Energy Sector”. The meet brought together strategic planners from NTPC, POWERGRID, BHEL, PFC, SECI, IREDA, ONGC, GAIL, BPCL, NHPC, and Power Sector Skill Council, fostering a highly interactive platform for cross-industry dialogue and collaboration.
Mr. Gaurav Moda, Partner at EY, and his team, along with Mr. Vikram Malhotra, Data & AI Lead, Public Sector at Microsoft, delivered detailed presentations on the current opportunities available for AI interventions in the energy sector, including use cases. Additionally, Mr. Shubhranshu Patnaik, Partner at Deloitte, shared key insights from WEC India’s soon-to-be-published study, “Energy Needs and Technology Assessment for India under the 2070 – Net Zero Pathway”.
Mr. Md. Ashfaq, GM (CP), NTPC & In-charge of WEC India Secretariat, opened the session by emphasizing the strategic importance of AI in the evolving energy landscape. The event concluded with closing remarks by Mr. H. K. Das, ED (CP), NTPC & ED, WEC India, who highlighted the key takeaways and the need for ongoing collaboration and capacity-building to fully harness AI’s potential in the energy sector.
