Joint Annual General & Executive Committee Meeting of WEC India held on 24 February 2026
The Joint Annual General & Executive Committee Meeting of World Energy Council India (WEC India) was held on 24 February 2026 under the Chairmanship of Shri Pankaj Agarwal, Secretary (Power) and Chairman, WEC India. The meeting was conducted in hybrid mode with participation from key stakeholders across the energy sector.
Shri Gurdeep Singh, CMD, NTPC and Secretary General, WEC India, along with senior leadership from member organizations, actively participated in the meeting. Sh. E P Rao, CGM, NTPC & Executive Director, WEC India, has also actively participated in the discussions. The Chairman of the Central Electricity Authority (CEA), also participated in the meeting and provided valuable insights.
In-Charge, WEC India Secretariat, presented the key budgetary matters of FY 25-26 along with an overview of WEC India’s engagements and initiatives.
The major discussion was regarding the WEC India study over the utilization of Gas-Based Generating Assets to meet the peak Power Supply requirements, the National Energy Trilemma Index (NETI), including the framework and results of the 2025 NETI assessment. In addition, the dashboards developed by WEC India to enable data-driven insights and support informed decision-making were showcased.
Major participants included CMDs of NTPC, NHPC, REC, IREDA, PFC and Grid Controller of India Limited, along with the Director General of BEE and CPRI, and senior leadership from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG), NITI Aayog, Power Grid, ONGC, PTC India Limited, GAIL India Limited, SECI, Oil India Limited, Power Sector Skill Council, CII, The Institution of Engineers (India), IIT Bombay, NTPC School of Business, Delhi Transco Limited and FICCI.
The meeting concluded with valuable guidance and strategic direction from the Chairman, WEC India, and the Secretary General, WEC India, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to supporting India’s energy transition through research, collaboration, and data-driven policy insights.
